It's dark, save for the soft glow of starlight. Once again Isabeau finds himself at the broken shrine, but the gold white lion is nowhere to be seen, only black inky substance. He'll know not to touch it, but as he lingers, something growls.
He feels himself turning around slowly despite all instincts screaming to run, and finds himself face to face with the large lion, larger than anything should be. Hoku's eyes are clouded, and black ink drips from his mouth.
Be you lion? Or be you the lamb? He asks, voice guttural and gurgling.
Someone cackles around them in the woods, and now Isabeau can clearly see that the shadows of his first dream are all stars, also corrupted with this murk, seeping from eyes and mouths and injuries.
Before he can even blink, they converge on him like a swarm.
Isabeau wakes up aching, unable to remember anything but terror of his dream, and the Black Sun's voice laughing.
